1200 miles, an average of six hours of sleep per night, and a big bowl of frozen meat

We're back!  In spite of all of the driving, we managed to have a rather pleasant weekend.

It all started (and ended), conveniently enough, with the complete closing of I-75.  To go anywhere outside of Michigan, one must first travel south, around the Great Lakes.  So, of course, MDOT completely closed Michigan's access to the outside world by shutting down I-75.  I shouldn't complain though; we did get to see scenic Brownstown ("where trailer homes and tornadoes meet")...

We had a bit of trouble finding the B&B outside of Gettysburg.  We ran into some crazy super-dense fog in the hills.  It was so thick at one point that we couldn't see the road at all.  Also, we managed to get completely turned around so we actually drove first one way then the other on the same road.  Luckily, we passed the distinctively named "Kobweb Korners" which clued us in.  This wasn't the only "K" name we ran into; apparently they can't afford the letter C in Pennsylvania.

The B&B we stayed at was, indeed, charming.  It is supposedly haunted, but we managed not to have any paranormal experiences.

Leo found the battlefield interesting, I enjoyed watching him enjoying it.

Also, I feel I need to mention the plethora of extremely clean public bathrooms in and around Gettysburg.  Really, they were quite remarkable.

On Saturday, we drove on to D.C.  We had a pre-graduation celebration that night.  We ate at Ulysses S. Grant's dining table and sat on his chairs.  Also, right behind Leo, was one of the ten original copies of the unfinished portrait of George Washington.

We could only stay for the first hour of the graduation.  We grabbed some "food" on the way back, somewhere in Maryland.  I was served lasagna that was a heap of cheese, mountain of meat, and a noodle floating in a pool of light orange oil.  Needless to say, it was very tasty and filling.  Leo was served pizza which he described as "Chuck E. Cheese style".

On the way home, we listened to "The Truth About Men" a solid three times.  That is one thing I love about car trips, all of the crazy songs on the radio.  We also got to hear "The Humpty Hump" and "One in a Million" by the Tubes.

It's been a while since I've been to the grocery store.  I found something in the freezer to put in Leo's lunch.  I think it was chili, but it could also be a big frozen bowl of taco meat or sloppy joes.  I was hoping he wouldn't notice, but he just emailed me to ask about it.
